Where has the hope all gone
is it hidden in our soul
or is it in the latest gadget we buy
is it in the homeless child on the street
or is it in those that have it all?

Where has the hope all gone?
Is it hidden in the woman's face
the one who just lost her child
or the child who just lost her mother?
Maybe its in the empty womb of the sterile

We scream out to God
is it on deaf ears
or is it easier to blame
the creator of us all?

Where has the hope all gone?
Did it die upon the Cross
or was it with those who mocked Him.
Did it flee when He rose
or did it go with those who flee from him?

Where has the hope all gone
is it in the hungry bellies of the weak
or in the darkness of the blind
or is it in the poor and the broken

Where has the hope all gone
when man is all consumed
never seeing, never hearing
wanting their right way
eyes averted from those who
do all they can to look up.
